Honda racing "carve" bmx bike?

I just bought this Honda Carve bicycle at a local thrift store - mainly because I could only find 2 references to it when I googled it on my cell phone!
Can anyone tell me about this bike? What year is it? Were there a lot produced? Is the "Racing" name that's all over just for looks or was this part of Honda's professional bikes? (I used to race Hondas as a teenager - I love their off road motorcycles).

Is this considered a good bmx bike?

I appreciate any help.

48 spoke wheels and the Pegs, suggests street stunts Skate bowl bike type, (Scraped up pedal says skate bowl user.*)
not a track race 'Moto' Cross Bicycle, (as you May have seen races at the London Olympics on TV).

* Here to use your bike in the skater's bowl you have to fit plastic pegs and pedals. obviously to not damage the concrete bowl.

Probably between 8 and 12 years old, maybe younger. Has a nice stem, probably a decent bike to ride.

I can't believe with a company as big as Honda that there weren't more made or info on this model. Maybe it's so good no one ever sold theirs?!
I'm 50+ so I don't know much about these, although I used to race & ride Hondas as a kid in the 70's - SL-125, TL-125 for motocross or trails!
