Watched the Netflix series, Cowboy Bebop. Brilliant! Never read the comic, nor have I seen the animated episodes, but it was a nice original blend of old and new, sci-fi and noir. I was seriously into comics back in the '80's but sold my collection to fund my son's college tuition, and Cowboy Bebop made me realize why I got into comics in the first place. It was good because it wasn't full of the same old predictable plot twists and boring characters that you have to usually wade through with any series these days.

James Spader has always played a good "bad guy" type. I really haven't liked him since Less Than Zero, as he played that and similar parts so well. Talented guy nonetheless.

In regard to Blacklist, I watched the first few seasons which I felt had a good premise and storyline. They continually tried to keep jumping the shark tank with strange and IMO unneeded plot twists involving some pretty far out stuff. Surely as a tact to try to bring some modern relatability to the show. I hate when writers and directors pander at the expense of the soul of a show and thus what drove me away from watching. My wife, however, is fully invested.

It didn't get particularly good reviews, but I am really enjoying American Crime Story: Impeachment (2021). Big news at the time, but I only really remember the 'headlines' as it was plastered all over the news. The dialogue between Lewinski's family-friend lawyer and the big-hitting FBI agents is classic and is a real highlight of the show for me.

7/10

Outlaws on Prime. Stephen Merchant as his usual wonderful self.

See also the recent Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me episode guest-starring Merchant; he discusses the episode of Outlaws where the graffiti cleanup crew destroys a Bansky

Black spot on Netflix. 10/10. Loved the drama, the suspense, the bit of supernatural, and the odd bit of humour thrown in when you least expect it.

Yellowstone 9/10 Kevin Costner really shines and proves he can do a TV show as good as he does movies. Also like Cole Hauser's performance as Rip Wheeler.

Winning Time: Rise of the Lakers Dynasty 8/10 Over the top acting but overall very entertaining. Looking forward to season 2.

Snowfall 8/10 Fictional story of crack dealing in 1980's California. Would give this show a higher rating, but Damson Idris acts and sounds too much like Denzel Washington. The supporting cast is great, will definitely watch season 6...

Obi Wan Kenobi. Suprisingly decent, especially for TV. 8.5/10.

Pa ch in ko, finished season 1, 8 episodes on Apple + TV. 4 generations of Korean family living in Japan and Japanese occupied Korea. Excellent! 9/10.

First 4 episodes of The Old Man, starring Jeff Bridges, streaming on Hulu. OK 6/10, but not as interesting as the books written by Tom Perry who wrote the book that the screenplay is based on.

Rewatching the 5 seasons of The Shield, one of the best cops an/or gangsters TV series ever broadcast. I rate the entire series a 9/10 and am now up to season 4 on the rewatch on Hulu.

Watched the first two episodes of Black Bird, a police procedural/prison movie on Apple+ TV. Very good so far, as could be expected from a series based on the writing of Dennis Lahane.

Just finished star trek strange new worlds.

8/10. Great all round, some funny episodes some serious. Just like old star trek. Modernised without breaking the nostalgic feel.

Sad it was a short season.

Stranger Things 4.

Not really into sci-fi/fantasy, but must say I enjoyed this. Lives up to the hype.

Resident Evil series on Netflix. I thought it was going to be all teen angst at first, but then it got good. some predictable parts, but some good surprises too. Lance Reddick was excellent. 7/10

Watched the fifth episode of The Old Man, starring Jeff Bridges, streaming on Hulu. It keeps getting dumber and less interesting. The idea that a 70 year old man can keep winning fight-to-the-death, hand to hand combat with trained hit men who are probably in their late 20's is ludicrous. The plot is equally strained. But I do like Jeff Bridges so I will hand on for the slog to the conclusion. 5/10.

Watched the third episode of Black Bird, a police procedural/prison movie on Apple+ TV. Gets better and more interesting with each episode. 8.5/10. Looking forward to watching the next show tomorrow night.

The missus and I just wrapped up all seven seasons of Grace and Frankie. Cute. I think if they'd ended after season 4 I'd probably give it an 8/10 but it seems like it kinda jumped the shark towards the end and so I'll say 7/10.

Space Force season 2 was very disappointing. Just seemed very scattered and directionless. And the cliffhanger(s) at the end of season 1 were barely mentioned. 4/10

Just finished season one of Keeping Faith, a Welsh crime thriller. I don't mind a slow burn, but this is perhaps a little too slow...
