I left Pueblo Colorado after some thought and insight. I realized i miscalculated and started much too late in the year. It was another 1,000 miles to get throught Colorado and Wyoming and into Messoula. THat is where i would either go back east ont he northrn teir or continue west tothe coast and then make another decision about where from there. The choices oh the choices!

While in Pueblo i got to be friends with Kenny the guy that runs themotel where i stayed. more about him later but i wanted to tell you about how friendly people were in pueblo.

One day i caught the bus out to wallmart way accross town to resupply. The bus picked me up right infront of the motel and cost 75 cents. i got the complete tour of the town since thebus goes arround and about way. 2 stops from wallmart the fellow Mike i told you about got on the bus to come back from the bookstore. in a way it was good to see him. i asked if he got wet the other day, you remember he decided to try to make the 20 some miles into town instead or sitting out the storm in the pole barn with me. HE said he may have made it since he was pedaling with everything he had but luck would have it he got a flat tire 5 miles out. That wa about the time it really started topur rain more like walls of water comming down. The lightning would have been bad enough but this was such a heavey rain I was surprised to hear noone stopped to pick him up...

anyway when i got off at wall mart i asked the driver when the lst buc aame by to go back she said i had exactly one hour and then it would be a long walk or 10 dollar cab ride.

I worked myway through wall mart as fast as i could and had 10 minutes to spare the bus came by ritght on time and the same driver again. We got to talking and she said since it was raining and tghis was the last trip for th eday whe would go off route 6 blocks and droip me at he door of the motel wow that was very nice to do that but that is how people are in this town

Kenny the motel manger and i was talking and i mentioned about the timming and i still wanted to hit the west coast and travel along the ocean before heading back to wisconsin. If i got through the rest of colorado and wyoming then it would be about 3 or 4 weeks when i made Messoula since i would like to take a loit of time int he mountians and really do it right. Thats when he had an idea. A friend of his wifes had a pick up truck and a 28 ft trailer he needed delivered to an area close to messoula and was looking for some one experianced with a CDL liscense. I wa a little interested so i called the fellow and made a time to meet and talk.

i wouild drive the rig and take 4 or less days and get paid 75 dollars and reimbursed for the fuel. His insurance covered me fully + my opwn insurance was in effect alwso if needed. i had to thihnk this over for the night.

What i dediced was that to really do this part of the trip justice i needed more time so my next trip is allready planned. maybe next year take the train out to WhiteFish MT and ride through mountana wyomong and colorado the parts i missed this trip maybe take a month opr sl;ightlyu longer for that part then grab a train or someother way to get back to wisconsin. For5 now i would go to messopula and continue west bound through lolo pass whiote bird pass and Mc kinsey pass to Florance oregon then go south untill i figure i had enough then figure out some way to get back to wisconsin before winter hits.

I am now in Messoula i dropped ff the rig this morning early at the airport according to plan and thsis other guy would take it to the final destination. i got repaid for the fuel i bought and the 75 bucks but i allready spent it i bought a new tent much lighter and garunteed not to leak and a new thermarest pad.

The ride was frine the pick up jhad a sattalite radio so i had great music all the way and no commercials i wil lhave to look into this sattlite radio when i get back home.

The first night i stopped aftrer 450 miles and got a motel the lady said accross the street att he bar was apig roast that night and gave me acoupon for a free beer . I walked ovber to the bar that night and met Wing the owner he also ownes the motel and gas station and the XXX book store in town go figure. Anyway the pig roast was free for anyone that shopwed up so he could try out the cooker it was first time he ever cooked a pig he also ownes a catering business and was going to do a big pig roast party next week and wanted to practice first. The pig turned out great and of course i stayed too long and was hard to get up in the morning.

500 miles the second day to get to the destination. It seemed weird to make so many miles in one day when id been used to 60-80 per day. I gt a motel and like i said delivered th erig this morning. Then i stopped athe adventure cycling office to check out some stuff and talk to the staff there a while i met a couple gong west they are holed up today here since it is raining.

Tomorrow if the rain isnt too heavey i wil pull out in the morning and head for loLo hot springs for a soak and camp for the night.

i drove tgrough Jackson Wy and it was a nice looking place but very congested with tourisists then the driuve through grand tetons was worth it yellowstone was heavley congested but then again it was a weekend maybe thats why maybe not.i tol some great pictuires from yellowstone ther were gysers all over the place i didnt stop at old faithfull though it was jamed packed with cars and people not my idea of a place to see

I am getting ware on the rear tire ahead of time but then i rode a week on a rails to trails packed crushed stone trail so there was a down side to that but over all was a good week of riding and visiting on the Katy trail.

i am thinking maybe 2-3 weeks to get to the coast then maybe stop there or cointinue and go south along the ocean twords warmer weather Unless i forgot to tell you aboput something else thats it for now

Hey Catfish. Wish I would have known you were coming through these parts! When you go through LOLO, stop in at LOLO GLASS, LLC and tell them hello from Bob (RC) & Coleen. That is Coleen's Dad and step-mom's business. Enjoy the area. I love riding over there when we go to visit.

What an adventure. You are really something else. Sounds like you're having a great time. Be careful that you don't get hurt. Love ready your stories. Still can't figure out how to post those pictures. If anybody can give me directions, I would love to get them on the site and share them. Have a great week. We are thinking about you. Dad's complaining about our cold summer weather, otherwise he's doing great.
