Celebrity Classic Wheels to Heal
Building on last year's success, the 2008 Wheels to Heal Ride will be held on Sunday, May 4, in Columbus, Georgia.
The event is part of the Columbus Regional Medical Foundation Celebrity Classic Weekend Series to be held April 18-21, which also includes signature golf, tennis, 5K, and 10K run events, as well as a spectacular reception for participants and sponsors. The Celebrity Classic Wheels to Heal benefits the John B. Amos Cancer Center in Columbus, Georgia, a regional cancer center.
If you have never been here before, this will be a great time to visit Georgia and Columbus! Come on down, stay awhile, and enjoy the other great things we have to offer:
• Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center (offering the only tree top canopy exploration trail in the US!)
• Port Columbus Civil War Naval Museum
• Coca Cola Space Science Center
• River Center for the Performing Arts
• Uptown Historic District
• Columbus Riverwalk Trail
• Columbus Convention and Visitor's Bureau
With last year's participants coming from all over the Southeast, 2008 promises to be an even bigger and more exciting year. Once again the event will offer different routes: a family ride on the scenic Riverwalk Bicycle Trail alongside the Chattahoochee River; a 40-mile route that continues onto historic Fort Benning, and for those seeking more of a challenge, a Metric Century (64-mile) ride, and a Century (100-mile) ride that tackles some of the beautiful, hilly, back roads of Fort Benning before returning along the Riverwalk Trail. In addition, there will be a pre-ride breakfast, well stocked SAGs (with our always entertaining SAG crews!); roving mechanic and route support; and a post ride hot meal for all participants.
The Wheels to Heal is known for its participant gifts! This year participants will receive a Coil Backpack and a Power Extreme Water Bottle. The backpack has a large zippered main compartment with headphone port and padded, adjustable straps for comfort.
Be sure to register by May 3 to ensure you get one of our great backpacks!
