I'll be there with Team Southwestern Law School! Before you start throwing fruit (actually, go ahead and throw--I prefer bananas) and lawyer jokes the team looks like it will be mostly adorable young women from the administrative staff with me the old crone to take care of them. I've never done a charity ride before and I'm captain. So any advice from you old hands would be much appreciated!

Sounds like you are going to have a great ride!!
I may need to hang near your group!!

Just motivate your team members to raise money, at least to meet the minimum, also there are gifts levels they can achieve...for jerseys, etc......
Also we usually have a couple of training rides...
Its always a great ride...

I saw a few posts questioning the bridge expansion grooves, well the Gerald Desmond port bridge has expansions slots that are angled and not very wide gaps but the Vincent Thomas grooves are very wide I'd guess at least a good 1" to 2" and very very long like 5 ft. so they will need to do something about them for sure even someone with a beach cruiser with wide tires would get stuck in them.

Here is the answer back:

Here is the answer I got back!
Hi Herb
Glad you wrote to ask. We have identified a special mat which will be used to cover the grooves on the Vincent Thomas Bridge which are as you correctly point out, too wide for a bike

The Gerald Desmond grooves have been ridden over before without incident, though we will ultimately defer to our safety experts on this
Always feel free to call or have your colleagues call with any concerns or questions.
Julian
