Smile 2010 Team in Training - Racing to Save Lives One Mile at a Time - Century Ride

Good evening BikeForums Community!

I have browsed these forums over the last two years since hoping on my bike. While I have not signed up or posted, I have been a quiet observer learning the ins and outs of cycling from the community here as to not embarrass myself out on the road. I’ve learned a lot and I thank you all in advanced.

I originally joined the cycling community to give my knees a break from running as I was (and still am) on a personal journey to shed unwanted pounds. Soon after I got my bike, I got the devastating news a family member, my own dad was diagnosed with Cancer and was in the fight for his life. It knocks you like a sack of bricks. Thankfully with tons of prayers and great medical care, he has been in remission now for two years.

Falling in love with the sport of cycling as well as making a personal goal to do what I can to help ease the burden of cancers on my dad and all cancer patients in general, I have joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. Simply put, I am the messenger raising funds for a larger cause that most likely, unfortunately has affected someone we each know. It is my hope when we find a cure to one cancer we will cure all the cancers we are faced with.

All of us on Team in Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

I have been training in and around Tucson, AZ for a Century Cycle Ride at Lake Tahoe, NV on Sunday, June 6th. In addition, I have been fundraising through my social network and family though I still need more help towards this worthy cause. I figured I had nothing to fear in asking the cycling community here on Bike Forums for your support towards this worthy cause.

I am at the point in my fundraising now where each and every dollar you donate goes directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. All overhead for this ride has been taken care of at this point in time. In addition, your donation, not only will 100% fully go towards the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Mission, it is also 100% Tax Deductible.

Would you kindly consider donating? Blood cancers are cruel to the patient as well as the family. We can do our part to help find the cure we all desire.

Please consider visiting my donation website @ https://pages.teamintraining.org/dm/ambbr10/eriktrevino to make a donation to support my participation in Team in Training and help advance LLS's mission.

Thanks for your consideration and support!
