SMART Ride - AIDS Charity Ride - Need some help!
Hi everyone.
Nov 18-19 2011, I will be taking part in The SMART Ride. This is an AIDS Charity ride where 100% of what is raised goes to several AIDS charities. It's 2 days/165 miles from Miami to Key West, and the ride I look most forward to doing each year for numerous reasons. While I personally ride to honour the friends of mine who have passed on from this disease, and raise funds for those who are in need of help and cannot ride for themselves - all the people involved with this ride have huge hearts and are an inspiration. They keep me coming back each year.
While it isn't a front page news item like it was in the 80's, people are still dying from AIDS despite all the advances in treatment. There are people who don't respond to medications, people who cannot afford medication but don't qualify for aids drug assistance programs, or have been victims of the adac cutbacks which have happened in many states.
I'm still a bit short from my minimum donations, so I'm asking for donations anywhere I can. There is no minimum as far as donations go, and even the smallest amount is a HUGE help, be it $5 or $50. If you're unable to donate, passing along the link to donate is a huge help to me as well. For those who are able to help in any way possible, here's the link. https://thesmartride.org/8/pledge/in...457&step=step3
Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give!
