FIVE TEENAGERS CYCLING FOR CANCER 2012

What is the Cycle For Cancer?

The Cycle For Cancer is a fundraising cycle established by five senior students that aims to contribute to the great work done at the McGrath Foundation.

What is the McGrath Foundation?

The Foundation is one of Australia's most well known and respected charities. It was founded in 2002 by former Australian cricket player Glenn McGrath and his wife Jane McGrath, now deceased. Her public fight against breast cancer captured the hearts of many Australians and drove her to raise awareness and ensure that young women who faced the same experiences as her had the support they were entitled to. Today, the McGrath Foundation is considered to be one of Australia’s leading breast cancer support organisations. Their work mainly focuses on raising money to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia and raise breast cancer awareness in young Australian women.

Who are we?

We are a group of five students from Brisbane. Together we are involved in a variety of sporting and community activities. We are all enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at St Peters and one component of this programme is Community, Action and Service (CAS). Since late last year we have been organising and training for a fundraising cycle to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation. This is a private cycle that will be undertaken by the five of us. We are very aware of the impact breast cancer has on many people's lives throughout Australia and due to our passion for sport we decided to combine these to form an ambitious idea. Through correspondence with the McGrath foundation we have their support on our cycle. Our aim is to raise both funds for the McGrath Foundation, as well as awareness of breast cancer.

When is the cycle?

The cycle will be held over the weekend that is the 23rd June and 24th June 2012.

What is the route?

We will be cycling approximately 250km from Brisbane to the Gold coast, and then return on the same route.

How do we aim to raise funds and how you can contribute?

So far we have held a fundraising event at our school and have donation tins set up around our school. With the assistance of the McGrath Foundation there is an opportunity to donate through the internet at our personal fundraising page:https://personalchallenge.gofundraise...cycleforcancer This website will be collecting donation until the end of August 2012. We welcome any form of support, including monetary investments made by people like yourself. Know that all 100% of funds raised will go towards the Mcgrath Foundation. We will not receive any monetary benifits through this campaign.

How can you contact us?

If you require any further information about us or about donating please contact us on: cycleforcancer@hotmail.com.

Thank you for having the time to read about our event and we look forward to your support. Please take the time to forward this email to your family and friends.

Kind Regards,

The Cycle For Cancer Team!
Brandon Ziegenfuss, Leonor Gausachs, Senai Leniston-Kahsai, Desmond Chen and Ryan Pousson.
