https://www.ebay.com/itm/290705418264...84.m1423.l2649

I just picked up a 1991 version of this bike on CL for $50, basically the same except mine has Deore XT/LX STI. I was going to part it out, but not if the value is anything close to this. What do you think?

Take a look at their completed auctions and you'll see that they rarely sell anything at those prices. Their business pricing model is deep up their own posterior.

As soon as I saw your post title I checked just to see if it was an Ebay auction from BBCbikes, if that tells you anything.

I thought it was nuts, looking at their other auctions, but I didn't want to do something I would regret. Oddly, the one I have is ogirinally from BBC. I actually have about 10 bikes from there originally. FYI, they are not helpful giving out info. about stuff they originally sold.

"Budget" Bicycle Center strikes again. As I live in Madison, I have the luxury of walking through their shop. By the time I'm ready to leave I feel sick and also have a great desire to pummel the employees that price the bikes. Sadly, I think they do sell quite a few bikes to ignorant college students.

Pricing a $75 bike at $2649? Drugs can make you do stupid things.

I emailed them when I was looking for a Black Lightning and told them based upon the head badge and serial number, I didn't think the one they are selling is a 1990. The guy was a tool and refused to correct his auction listing. Caveat Emptor.

So that's who has those bikes, I've seen several of their bikes listed over and over again on E-bay, some have been relisted for a couple years at least.

Idiots.

Check their completed auctions. No one buys their stuff. OK, they do occasionally hook a fish. Different business model for sure. May be to justify high prices in their brick and mortar store. I don't get it.

I know there high asking prices screws up the market. I watched a newb auction seller put a super high reserve. Of course, his auction didn't meet it.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

I'd probably ask about $400, personally, but it would take a while to sell most likely. Nice condition and lotsa Suntour goodies.

As for your 1991, Maybe $275? Maybe a little more or a lot less depending on condition. Are you parting out to sell parts? If XT thumbshifters and XT cranks, both of those are good money on eBay if in good shape.

I have the same Honda Trail Winder hanging in my shop, needing chain and new cables. Now I know I can get 650 for it! What a bargain!

You would think that for $15,000 they could at least put on fresh cables and a new chain. But hey, it does have a Dura Ace headset. Worth it right there.

Makes one think what would these guys ask for a really decent C&V like bike most of the Guys and Gals here on the forums ride. As I have never seen them list what I would consider a really valuable or interesting bike.
