70's AMF Dynamic. Overpriced?
Hi all,
'Nother gem off of the good ol' CL. Now I've done a little reading on AMF, and nothing speaking too greatly of them from what I've seen so I'm sure this bike is overpriced. Does anyone have any knowledge of them?

"Restored" Well I guess those did originally have the rear brake cable flopping in the breeze but the mix matched tires is a sure sign of cheap do as little as possible flipper.
Unless your looking for something heavy and likely unstable to ride I would give this a big PASS!! That is a pretty basic steel (heavy steel too) frame with lots of low steel components.
I bet since spring is in full swing out there the bike market is heating up but I suspect you can do better for just a few dollars more.

Are you buying a bike for exercise or commuting? For a short commute oh say 5-7 miles each way one of these would be good and would also be decent to start you on the road to fitness riding.
Motobecane Café latte, check to make sure it isn't too big, Motobecane Cafe Latte $150
GT Mountain bike, I can't see the model on this but it looks like a real nice one. GT Mountain Bike.. Really good condition !! $110
This Fuji hybrid may be a great deal at $45 but it needs a tune up, I guess maybe $50+/- in your area, FUJI CX-350, ALL THERE,NEEDS TLC

Haha it looks incredibly heavy. The front end and headset, especially. The seat, though, is kind of cool. I might see if the owner will take a substantial amount lower, but I also don't want to be a jackass and low ball the hell out of them. So I'll probably pass.
The bike market out here is sort of a free-for-all. Prices are all over the place, people are rude to interact with, and the local bike swaps aren't even bike swaps anymore. The swaps went from nice banter for trading to set prices and you can't have any information about the bikes or parts you're looking at.

Just pass just about any price is too much for one of these. Heavy 26inch wheeled all cheap steel 70's department store bike. You would be better off buying whatever Walmart has on sale for $99.

Haha from what I read, that sounds about right.
Apparently Wal-Mart Roadmasters are a better value than these. That's pretty bad haha

Bikes: No-name LH drive track. Also ride an Exxon Graftek, a Masi, a Trek R200 or a RR Boneshaker for fun!

A little history - Pacific Cycle bought out Brunswick (parent company of AMF) in 2000. Since then, they have bought the Schwinn, GT, Iron Horse, Mongoose, and yes, the venerable Roadmaster brands.
Most or all are now made in China by people not paid enough to properly tighten what they're putting together. You even have to watch the frame welds now.
From working the back room as an Assembler at Wal-Mart I know how the quality on them has really declined since this AMF was built.

First things I look for are a RD hanger, cotter less cranks and brazed on DT shifters. Then try and get a read on the frame full ChroMo or TreTubi ChroMo, not that tretubi is bad, and the fork ChroMo or HiTen. Wheels are next QR front and rear.

Actually the AMF is built better than the Roadmasters but this AMF is still overpriced.

Judging by your signature you should have a enough basic knowledge to sort the wheat from the chaff. in most cases a claw attached RD, bolt on wheels, Ashtabula (one piece) crank, and stem shifters should mean low end. Also if you look close you can see how paper thing the dropouts are on this frame.
First things I look for are a RD hanger, cotter less cranks and brazed on DT shifters. Then try and get a read on the frame full ChroMo or TreTubi ChroMo, not that tretubi is bad, and the fork ChroMo or HiTen. Wheels are next QR front and rear.

You would have to pay me $120 to haul that piece of trash to the dump.
