Any folks have any experience with this bike? Actually looks like it might be decent quality, though I can't make out any of the components. Decent tubing though...

yeah- cheap for this area for sure. looks cool but I have no experience with the brand.

I'm not seeing anything online about the brand.

However, there is a Summit Bicycle Shop that seems to have branches in northern California. My guess it is a house-brand bike.

It is an older chromoly MTB. However, it does have many features that would indicate at least moderate quality.

• Forged rear dropouts.
• Derailleur hanger
• Front and rear QR
• Alloy cranks with removable chainrings.
• Alloy seatpost
• Chaining teeth look like they have minimal wear.
• Alloy Pedals

The one piece stem/bars looks strange, but it should be functional.

I'd anticipate giving it thorough tune-up and a new chain.

I don't like spending a lot on an old MTB. I'd probably be closer to $100, or even less, but the $100 to $150 range isn't bad if it is rideable.

Looks a lot like the early 80's Diamondback I had. Nice bike, a bit heavy.

First bike I ever owned - link is dead now but am keen for photo and/or info if anyone has any. Did the job but when I was using it in early 90's it was well surpassed. Replaced with a '95 Giant ATX 770

"A little history about Summit Bicycles and Summit BMX.

Summit Bicycles is a product division of Hans Johnsen Company. HJC was founded in 1901 by Hans Johnsen, who imigrated from Denmark in the late 1890s and came through Ellis Island to Texas City on the coast later to move to Dallas, Texas.

Johnsen purchased the assets of Boren Bicycle in 1901 and changed the name to Hans Johnsen Company. The company which started in the bicycle business has also been in the automotive parts, motorcycle and lawnmower business. During the 1930s the company left the automotive business. In the 1940s the bicycle business separated from the rest of the company and today HJC is exclusively in the bicycle products businesses operating under the Summit brand.
