Campagnolo pedals value

Thinking about selling my Campy pedals. They came on a bike I recently purchased and I do not ride platform pedals. So instead of stowing them away unused, maybe someone could put them to use. I'm a little hesitate of selling them though, is it stupid to sell them from an original 1966 Paramount even though I have no plans in selling the bike or ever using the pedals? Condition is pretty decent, a little surface rust that would clean up with no pitting. Thanks. Just not sure what they are going for, they are all over the place on ebay and I would rather give someone here a fair price that will use them.

Back in February this year I sold the Campagnolo NR with toe strap loops for:

Campagnolo Nuovo Record Pedals w/Toe Strap Loops 2/19/15 $74.99
Campagnolo Nuovo Record Pedals with Strap Loops 2/1/15 $82.98

On Ebay, had two International buyers purchased the pedals. Now the market is more USA buyers! If you go CL, expect to re-post several times and deal with people who are not aware of vintage market and want to pay under $25 for each set.

Cheers, Mike

Given that they are a little rusty, I'd say $60-$70 or so.

It's all about condition, as already mentioned. Unfortunately, These early NR pedals had chromed steel cages, that were very prone to rusting and chrome loss. So most used examples being sold out there look much worse than what you have (I think Campagnolo just did not do a good job chroming these pedals, as the chrome looks to be very thin. I also suspect that metal prep was not done very well).
Based on your pics though, it does seem like you do have some pitting under that rust, so it will not clean up to a perfect chrome surface on the cages even when cleaned up, so as already noted by others, you will most likely not get close the 100 buck level selling price if you put it out for auction at eBay.

Thanks Chombi, not really looking to get top dollar on ebay, more of a fair price for someone on the classifieds on this forum.

I think I'd try polishing it before selling them. They'll be much more photogenic too.

I have a pair of these pedals. Can they be re-chromed? Not worth the expense?

It's hard to tell from one picture but, I've had some that looked like that that cleaned up very well. It will be very much worth your time to polish those up a bit. 4/0 steel wool, a drop of oil and a light touch on the cages and you might be pleasantly surprised. Mothers on the aluminum barrels. And then I think you'd have no trouble getting what you're asking for them.

Probably not worth the effort. As the effort involves somehow removing the cages from the barrels. And then re-installing them.

My guess is that it is difficult to do because of the aluminum spider and steel cage, all riveted together, unless you choose to also chrome the spider.

Saw a neat video on YouTube about removing light rust and corrosion from metal using coca-cola . I have done the coca cola trick for many years on corroded battery terminals and cables, - so may be worth a try to clean em up

That pedal appears to have the more desirable chromed steel (vs chromed plastic) dust caps. It also doesn't show any road scrape damage. The steel cages are better than aluminum alloy in that they don't show shoe wear. I'd think a good rubbing with a paste metal polish like Simicrome or Maas and an old cotton sock and they would be worth an easy $75 a pair. I paid about $50 on ebay a while back for worse with trashed dust caps, road rash, and worn plates. How do the bearings feel, smooth, or dry, or gritty?

They spin perfectly.
