Worth it? Custom John Cutter Road Bike
https://slo.craigslist.org/bik/5165372858.html
see above, custom road bike made by a local builder. Not sure what tubes were used, but $250 just seems like too good of a deal to pass up. I would think about upgrading it with 5800 groupset. This would definitely be an N+1 bike, but what your guys thoughts on the price?
Thanks!

That's a nice looking bike. That could be a replacement fork though. If it fits, I'd say 250 is a decent deal. You might be able to talk him down a bit re-mentioning the busted right brifter.

Thanks 88prelude, I'll see if I can get them down on the price a little.

That's a deal @ $250. Frame alone is worth that

I would say yes it is a good deal the frame set is basically worth the price and the custom yellow brakes are cool. Everything else is pretty much free parts that would likely be changed if I got it. Since you understand it will likely need another groupo to really make it a great bike I say go for it.

Looks like TIG welded aluminum with good finish on the joints. This is not in fashion now-a-days, so maybe that is the reason for the bargain price. If you are buying for a flip I think you are going to run into the same market forces that are working against the seller now. If you are buying a rider I think it is a good deal, with the chance for an investment return in 10? 15? Years when fashion changes again.

It looks to me like fillet-brazed steel, which means Johnny Cutter was showing off! The seat stay junction is brilliant also. I agree with thinktubes; 250 is a deal!
However, if 0.2HP is right, I'd pass, for all the reasons 0.2HP cited.
88prelude mentions that the fork may be a replacement. Small builders sometimes purchased full chrome forks from suppliers instead of making their own. Columbus and Tange offered pro-level chrome forks in the early 90's. 88prelude's caution still stands, inspect the top & down tubes (underside) for bulges & paint damage.
Buy this bike & post pics of the brakes!

I do agree that it's most likely fillet-brazed steel as Cutter also didn't make aluminum bikes (that I know off). I'm awed by that seat stay junction everytime I see it - reminds of the 70s Schwinn Super Sport frames.
At $250 it's a great N+1 bike, and one to ride around. Building it with a better groupset will make it so even more. @Slybry I hope you've already picked it up and are riding it/working on it in your garage.

As an update, unfortunately I wasn't able to grab it. I was out of town for the weekend and my friend that was going to check it out for me couldn't make it for a day or two and the seller ended up dropping the price to $200(what i offered him to hold it) and sold it before I could get there, oh well what are you going to do .
