I think the dent kills the value, but it being fully cromed is pretty cool

Totally. $350 for a frame damaged like that is pretty silly. That is a significant dent. I would've passed. I attached a pic of the damage.

I have a frame that has a dent probably about that bad. But it's not a Colnago, it's my daily commuter so I don't care.

Pictures are REALLY awful. Seller needs to ditch the old cell phone camera and take pictures with a real camera if he's serious about selling. Dent or no dent, I would want to see better pictures before buying something like that.

It's probably sound and safe. BUT... for $350 I'd expect no dents.

Personally, I'd have been disappointed. However, if that frame were cheaper and local I would grab something like that. But that better be the only dent.

Dents are a big deal breaker for me, unless the paint is shot and I'm planning on painting it. But then the price better be a lot cheaper than that.

Bu you need to read the text - He /She says - "small dental on the down tube. Nothing that will comprise the stability of the bike, but that will be a decision for you to make or break your purchase. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or more pictures, I will take a few more, including the dentist on the down tube. "

OK - There is a Small dental and a dentist on the down tube.

Yea, he toalded us.

Cool.

I always wondered if commercially available auto "dent doctor" equipment can fix these frame tube dents. Being that most high end tubing is quite thin walled.
I suspect the answer will be no roe heat treated tubing, but maybe for the non-heat treated variety, it might work at least to lessen the size of the dent significantly??

Correct, and the ad doesn't say what the reserve amount is, so 1 more "turn off".
Seller is not a very savvy seller.

The dent would be well hidden.

I thought all Masters had fluted frames.

Perhaps Super, Superissimo, or Mexico.

The fork looks older than the frame, but might be possible on a late model Super.

I'm guessing the frame was rechromed, but it should make it easier to paint if you choose to do so. And, you could fill or pull the dent if painting.

It is hard to put a value on it. Maybe more than $200, but less than $350.

Definitely not a '70's frame. More like early/mid '80's.

I'd put the frame as 80's, but the fork as 70's.

I suppose some sleuthing would uncover if the two actually were put together.

Man I'm suprised at some of the values you guys put on this frame. Around here, that would be a freebie or very cheap. Dented frames don't seem to have much value if any value at all. At least the one's I've owned and have seen others try to peddle. I usually pass on them unless they are something rare and exotic. I had a dented Ciocc that was almost like the one pictured and couldn't even get what I paid for it back- $75. Ended up gifting it to a guy who turned it into his urban assault bike. $350 can buy a really nice used steel frame that has NO dents/cracks or dings and decent paint. Be patient.

I'm surprised nobody has yet pointed out the hack job someone did for internal routing of the rear brake cable. This is an early 80s Super or Mexico, so too early for internal brake routing (at least for a publicly-available frameset). Definitely not a factory job, that.

I'm with the OP - passing on this one was the best choice. Lots more fish in the sea

$350 in the Colnago world means something that definitely needs work or restoration.

A genuine Colnago Fork in good shape will probably pull $150 on E-Bay.

My old Colnago has a couple of very small dents from so long ago that I'm not sure quite what happened. They'll get repaired if I repaint.

That dent is probably pretty inconsequential for riding. It is pretty deep for pulling though, and I'm not convinced anything is original or matched on the bike.

Are those also Campy brakes and FD, toss in a few bucks for those too.

I have doubts about the chrome. Definitely too thick looking for original, and to tell the truth, it appears a lot like "Jet Hot" exhaust pipe coating, a high temp paint used in the hot rod industry. The stuff is sprayed on as a liquid and then fused in an oven, leaving a shiny and durable heat resistant finish that, when using the silver color, resembles chrome but definitely is not chrome.
