89' Schwinn Paramount pricing ??

hi friends,

LBS has this guy ... I noticed it's been on Ebay at least 5 Xs and CL. I've been trying to get up to speed on Paramounts and i realize this isn't your Classic version but why hasn't this guy sold, long ago? What then would be an appropriate offer?

i'm going down for a test drive today.

happy spring,
mike

Well, it is a Paramount built at Waterford out of Columbus SLX tubes so it should have a lot of value but that Sante group detracts a few hundred bucks off the price.

I know Sante has some fans out there but it just isn't working on this frame, offer him $600 and see what happens.

There are a couple of reasons I can think of. One is that 1989 was the year Waterford introduced the OS model using True Temper OS tubing. The sales of the standard diameter Columbus SLX (blended SL and SP in frame sizes larger than 57cm) version which was also available immediately dropped as most customers preferred the OS version, the serial number indicates it's a 59cm frame size, not 58, and as jet sanchEz says, the Sante group isn't as desirable to some buyers as D-A.

Personally, I think it's worth the $800 asking price.

This blurb describing both the Columbus tubing version and the "new" OS tubing appears in the '89 catalog.
