The mystery '85 Peugeot
I posted about this bike in the vintage section awhile back. The owner says it's a PY11 and that it wasn't in the catalog of the day. I've never heard of a PY11 and it was agreed it is probably an '85 PH11. But it's a different color than in the catalog, doesn't have plastic Simplex's and who knows what else differences.
In any case, the seller has dropped the price to $200 so now I'm tempted. It should polish up nice and I've read the carbolite brazed frames ride really nice. What do you think?

No way I'd pay $200 for this bike and I like Pugs. At this price, I'd want a better quality frame and better quality parts. $200 is a lot for a hi-tensile steel frame that really isn't collectible. Plus this bike is dirty, has some rust, and needs work. Pass.

Yep, probably a pass unless you can get the seller to work on the price.
I had a black PH11 very similar to this. I love me some Carbolite, but this internally-brazed one didn't really tickle me.
For $200 I'd expect an updated wheelset, drivetrain, and brakes...not original equipment with worn out consumables.

I remember discussing this bicycle with another member and believe that the best candidate turned out to be a French market 1984 PH11.

I would say pass mainly based on condition the price would be fine if the bike was in good ready to ride condition. As it sits it will need a full overhaul with new consumables and likely a wheel set they look pretty worn dinged up and the spokes look a bit oxidized and rusty. You could easily spend more than the bike is worth getting it road worthy.

What's interesting is the tubing used is butted, per the tubing decal.
I don't think such was the case (butted) with Carbolite 103 and HLE tubed framesets from Peugeot.....
I thinks it makes for possibly a slightly better quality frameset than what was in Peugeot base level model lineup at that time?.....
