Gary Fisher Advance
Trying to figure a date on this Gary Fisher Advance. Chro mo frame Serial # 85 6102 Shimano Alivio. Any help appreciated.

Look on the inside of each derailleur and the canti brakes. You will see 2 letters. The first is the year and the second is the month.
For Shimano the letter O is 1990. So if yours has the first letter of Q, then the component was made in 1992. The second letter is A for Jan, B for feb, etc.
Components made in the last few months of a year would be on the next year's bikes.
Hubs and cranks by shimano will also have the 2 letters and follow O being 1990.
That will help narrow the bike's year.
