What is this Battaglin worth? I want to buy it.
So it is apparently Columbus Brain steel tubing, which I understand to be about on par with SLX, or at least close. There aren't any stamps from Columbus on any of the parts though, no stamps on the dropouts, and there are no stamps from the company on the frame either. I don't want to purchase a frame that is just repainted and restickered to say it is something it isn't. I don't know if this was typical of Battaglin since I don't know much about the company, and only some about the cyclist who started it. It's an absolutely stunning paint job, though. So my hope is it is worth more than I am currently being offered to buy it for. I'm prepared to be wrong, so be super honest. I'm trusting you guys with my money. Haha.
On a side note, I'd also be willing to take the adorable dog off the guy's hands if he were to offer it. Lol.

That is a cool looking paint job and nice condition ; probably worth asking a little extra but I don't think it is worth nearly what the seller is asking. If I recall, Brain is not high end Columbus tubing, Genius I believe being the top level from that era. That being said there are valid arguements regarding who could tell the difference.
I don't see any reason to doubt that as a true Battaglin, but I'm not an expert on the marque. That frame will sit there a long time at that price and I think a neighborhood of $300 is more the mark especially considering shipping is expensive.

It's almost certainly legitimate. The Italian flag braze-on was a popular feature on Billato manufactured frames. You see them on the frames they manufactured for Battaglin, Ciocc and Concorde. Also, the livery is consistent with other Battaglin I've seen from the mid to late 1990s.
Brain's main tubes were 0.1mm thinner than SLX (in boths butts and centre-section) and it did not have the helical reinforcements. However, it was available in both standard and oversize diameters. This one appears to be the latter and the increase in diameter should compensate for stiffness lost due to the thinner tubes.
Edit: Here's a picture of another Battaglin with the same decals and paint scheme, but a different colour combination. Hopefully, it will provide reassurance to the OP.

So would you agree with Spaghetti Legs in saying that it is worth in the neighborhood of $300? The guy is offering me $530, and I just am not sure it is worth that for Columbus Brain tubing, even with that amazing paint scheme. But I want to be wrong because it is so beautiful.

Looks similar to a late Pinarello Gavia. So it's probably their highest end frame for 1994-95 or so. Good news is rear spacing should be 130 so a modern build would be easy. In that condition, $400 - $500 isn't crazy IMO.

That's glorious paint. If you really like it, it's worth a little extra. Life is too short to agonize over $50.

Agree on $375-400. Brain is nice, but not SLX nice.
I own a Battaglin and they are fantastic riders.
