Schwinn "World" Help

Hey Guys,

I have seen a few posts about the schwinn world sport but can't seem to find much on the internet about the Schwinn "World". I was wondering if anyone knew much about them. My neighbor gave me his old one the other day. It is in pretty good shape and I believe it is an '85 model. I just wanted to see what you guys thought of it and if anyone had some information

Thanks!

I'll post pics when I can

Schwinn has used the "World" theme for bike models since the beginning. My first new bicycle was a Schwinn World that was under the Christmas tree in the early fifties.

From the 1899 Arnold, Schwinn & Co. catalog:

1955 World with electro-forged frame and coaster brake:

In the mid-eighties, the World Sport had the three main frame tube made of 4130 chromoly, while the World was a notch lower in the model line-up with a hi-ten frame.
