Buying my first road bike, is this worth it?

Hi everyone!

I've been looking about information on road bikes and have been searching on my local kijiji/craigslist for 3 weeks now! I think I've finally found a good bike, I just would like your opinions on it. I'm using this bike for bike rides and to commute to and from work, less than 5km. I've always wanted a bicycle like this, so I want to make sure I purchase the right one. I also don't mind about the color of my bike, I would rather get one that is guaranteed to work!

Here is the bike: [Ok well I just figured out that I can't post links, so just add this after the kijiji.ca] /v-velo-de-route/ville-de-montreal/velo-peugeot/1265625657

EDIT: FOUND THE NAME OF THE BIKE

it's a 1985 Peugeot P8, with a Carbolite 103 frame.

Thank you!

It is a good bike, but the price is way too high. I happen to own one of these, and the P8 with internally brazed 103 Carbolite is a solid rider, and not even all that heavy.

Keep looking, be patient; you can do (much) better.

Considering the seller just spent about $140 to tune it up, it is a great deal. Montreal is a high cost market so clean and ready to ride Peugeot for $200 US is FMV.

Go get it and enjoy.

I do not know your market, Montreal, so oddjob2 may be right, as he seems to be more attuned to FMV in your region.

(I paid $20, but I only wanted the Greg Lemond branded lock on it, to accessorize my Lemond. The bike is basically new. My purchase was an anomaly. I wait for anomalies to present, then strike like a snake. I suppose here I could get around $150 for the Peugeot. I would pay around $75-$100, if I was looking for a commuter/daily rider. It is my opinion what the seller spends to ready the bike for sale is irrelevant. That is their choice. I can not speak to the quality of that shop's work. (As I do all my own wrenching and have for 40 years, I don't trust anyone else's work and would redo everything anyway.))

I can attest that the '85 P8(USBU60X) is a very solid and enjoyable rider.
