I'm trying to determine the year, model designation, and ballpark value of my Peugeot PX10. I purchased it new at a San Diego bike shop between 1984 and 1986. All the components are original. According to stampings and decals:

frame number: B1029612 (stamped on underside of bottom bracket)
frame: Reynolds 531 (64 cm frame size)
crankset: Stronglight
brakes: Spidel sidepull, with Spidel levers and "Mafac"-marked hoods
derailleurs: metal with Peugeot decals (rear stamped with "SX410")
hubs: Maillard, 36 holes
rims: Mavic module "E" 700 C
saddle: Ideale 2001

Researching online, I couldn't find a model/year that matched my serial number and components. Anyone have a good idea of its year of manufacture, model designation and value? Would appreciate any direction. Thanks!

Im just taking a guess, please refer to others first: but everything I can find indicates its a 1979 PXN10E (would be nice to see more/bigger pics) :

As is $500. Full restoration $1000.

Looks like possible early 1980s PXN10.

$300 as is, maybe $5-700 fully restored. It has some rust and condition issues. If the rust can be managed then you're looking at the higher end of that.

...I have bought a couple of similar bikes here in NorCal, in a little bit better (cleaner) condition. It's been a while, but I think one cost me $200 or $250 (the price was low because the bar and saddle had been changed into an upright cruiser style.) The other one was $500. The "Super Competition" (will say on top tube decal) was top of the line, and I think all 531. There was a similar "Competition" that was a Tres Tubi offering.

They get ignored by a lot of buyers because most of the manufacturing standards were still French for them at this point in time, so without some sophistication, they can be painful to work on.

The size will hurt the valuation. $500 fixed up in very good condition is about right. The saddle is toast and there are some rust issues with the parts and perhaps on the frame as well. $200-$300 as it sits.

Wow. I'm overwhelmed by the detailed and helpful information in these responses. Thank you, folks! Mine does say Super Competition on top tube. Seeing your photo, Steve, I now recall that mine came with a plastic spoke protector, which I promptly removed because I thought it looked dorky. (That was back when I still thought dorky was a bad thing ). I may even still have it somewhere. This bike (and my childhood Sting-Ray) hung as art in my house for decades, so more dust than rust. But enough of latter to require some serious attention. Yet afraid that if I do, I'll fall in love with it again. Especially after reading these posts and seeing these pictures. Oh my. Thank you again, all!

Although I hate to see it happen for an intact sought after bike, the greatest value for the least amount of work would be parting it out. Check ebay sold transactions for component values.
