Older hybrid Bianchi
So, my poor C'dale and I had a run in with a dog, and my back wheel is now closer to the shape of a potato chip than a wheel. While I wait for the new rim to come in, I've been looking on Craigslist because I can't help myself. I came across hybrid Bianchi. It's obviously been updated here and there, but does anyone have opinions on if it's worth it? It's listed at $150. It should fit fine, I have a lot of legs and arms and fit a bike larger than what is recommended for my height. Description on CL is as follows;
Early 90s Bianchi hybrid Medium (21") lugged steel frame
Converted to drop bar (Salsa bars )
Shimano 105 rear derailleur
21 spd ( all components new in the past (2) years including shifters.
Wheels are fairly new & are disc brake compatible (bike is NOT)
Kenda Quest 28-700c tires
Fenders & rear rack.
Frame bag & extra tube
Good commuter, entry level or backup 'cross bike.
Normal chips,scratches for the age (white areas on frame are contact film & easily removed. )
This bike is easily worth it just for the components!
Good bike, I just have too many & am getting ready to move.

I saw that on CL earlier. The frame appears to be a '90 or '91 judging by the head badge and fork logo. Those huge white bands with Bianchi on them are not original. The frame is probably a Boardwalk which should be at least a decent ChroMo f/f.
If it is mechanically sound and clean, $150 seems reasonable but those shifter have to go! I'd rather have indexing stem shifters. LOL.

Bianchigirll! Exactly the person I was hoping for! I was thinking since it already was missing a bunch of original parts, it might be a fun project if the frame is worth the effort. I have easy (cheap!) access to an auto paint booth, and water slide decals are easy enough to come by. I'd rather have indexed too, but what are you gonna do? I can probably find some RSX shifters somewhere if it's truly a 7 speed. If the guy still has it, I'm going to look at it later in the day.

I would say yes it's worth the price the SLR canti brakes are great and the 7 speed command shifter's are pretty good and the frame set wheels are good. If you don't like the shifte'rs you could sell them here or on ebay for more than enough to get something different.
