Hey guys, So i'm most likely going to be selling my Univega. I love it but its way too big for me, and just hurts to ride it. So I'm planning to build my own, something more modern.

Ok so I'll get pictures hopefully up tomorrow. For now let me give some details.

I did research and Ital Sports aren't really known. i dont know if this makes it rare or now. I think its just hard to track down every Univega made.

Nice red frame, although there are chips and scratches, mainly on rigth side of top tube. Other than that no bends, cracks, nothing major or serious, just cosmetics. But I'm not saying its been dogged and thrown around, just some nicks and scratches.

Campagnolo Triomphe full group. I read somewhere that it came out in the 80's to be like a good compromise to the high end groups.
8-speed freewheel, double crank.
I put aero levers on because the wires sticking out were getting to me. i still have the original campy brake levers.

Oh the size. I dont know the actual size, it doesnt say anywhere on the frame. I believe its about a 58cm? maybe 60. I'll measure tomorrow.

2 sets of Mavic rims. Oneis MA 40, and the gears are nicely spaced, for every day stuff. The other is open 4 CD with a tight racing gear pack. The open 4 has brand new tires, i used it only for a couple of rides.

Oh i think I found some pictures from last year. But i'll take mroe of the nicks tomorrow.

So yea I would love to know how many duccets it can fetch me. Should I sell it with both wheel sets? Should i part out the whole bike?

I paid $175 for mine at a garage sale. [Original] owner claimed less than 100 miles ridden and there was nothing about the bike to doubt him. The simple fact is despite the Campy name, Triomphe is worthless. Parting it out doesn't gain much except that the Triomphe may actually detract from the value of an otherwise excellent bike. Either way, what you're really paying for is a high-quality frame and a couple of nice wheelsets (although you'll get more if you sell the extra wheelset separately). In any case, it never hurts to try. Depending on what market you're in, I'd try throwing it out on Craigs as is (without the extra wheels) for say $250 and see what kind of bites you get. The Campy name might draw some neophytes that don't know the value (or lack thereof) of Triomphe. If that doesn't get you anything, try selling just the frameset (with headset) for $100-150. There won't be anything "Ital" about it, but these bikes would really come into their own with a Superbe or D-A group, but you'd have to account for the additional $300-$400 for the buyer build it up as such. Then you're looking at a $500 Univega. Hmmm... I don't know. From what I gather, you got the bike for free so you have some options. It's early enough in the Spring that you can try a few different approaches. Good luck.

Not a bad assessment, kind of what i figured. I'm thinking maybe selling it off piece by piece would get me more money, but then its teh hassle of possibly shipping things, and running around just to get a few extra bucks. A one time flip is always appealing in that respect.

In excellent condition and on a good day, I estimate a Triomphe brakeset (lever with original hoods + calipers with original pad/holders) could sell between $50-$75, pedals (with original dustcaps and cages) maybe $50-$75, shift levers maybe $15 - $25, bottom bracket $30-$40, crankset $50-$60, headset probably $25-$35. So Triomphe isn't exactly worthless - with the exception of the derailleurs. The wheelset could probably sell for $75-$100 in excellent condition, maybe more. I've listed a 57 cm Ital Sport frameset without headset on CL for $75 and no one wants it, even with seatpost, stem and bars included. The paint on my frame has seen better days, however.

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. I sold the bike the other day to a nice young man from jersey city. He was very excited and pleased. Sold it complete for $280.
