Romeo

I have a chance to restore a "Romeo" road bike, looks like from the 70's or 80's era. All campy stuff, but the bike is not in the best of shape. I've done 2 restorations on other bikes and know how $$ it can be.

My question, I can't find a whole lot about these Italian bikes other than they are usually custom frame bikes. The bike shop is still in business in Rome.

How much do you think one of these type bikes is worth in "good" condition? "excellent" condition, or just "ridable" condition?

Also, would you repaint a vintage bike?

Thanks for any help!

To maximize profit, you might want to part this out...

I never consider repaint as the cost is high for a quality job with the right decals, and it just lowers the value of the bike.

I guess I would consider a repaint on a keeper bike, as then the repaint would be all about maintenance, and the impact to valuation would not be so important.

I do enjoy restorations that I can ride, but I'm not sure of the vahttp://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=167292lue of such a rare italian bike. I know rare may not mean valuable, but, if there is money to be had, i'd rather sell it.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=167291

Well, its pretty obviously not all Campagnolo. Quite a bit of rust on the frame, and it is not rideable right now. Parts that I can see are in poor shape too, so I am not sure how much you would get out of a part out. I just don't see a lot of value there.
