Diamant Vintage Frame with Cinelli BB in NOS condition

Hello, this is my first post here.

I just bought an old Diamant Frame in NOS condition. It has a beautyfull paintwork and looks stunning as I find. It came with a BB stamped by Cinelli and a Stronglight Headset.

Here are some pictures:

Can anyone tell me what age this Bike is, where it was build etc.?
Would also be interesting to know if it is worth anything

Thank your in advanced for you answers.

Matt

Very pretty! Belgian. Number hanger suggests a team bike. Internally routed brake cable suggests late 80s early 90s. Any idea of the frame material? Great looking bike. Enjoy it

Thank you for your answer.

So this is a number hanger, what already wondering what`s that for.
The material is of course Steel, but what tubes ( columbus etc, ...) I don`t know since there are no decals on the frame.

Guess I will start building up the frame once I figuered out what exact date the frame is from so I can look for matching
parts.

The exact date does not matter much for parts. Measure the rear dropouts (I suspect that they are 126mm) and that would probably tell you what the best way to go as far as components. 7sp 600 Ultegra Tricolor with STI levers would look really nice on this bike. As far as what the exact material is: Diamant used mostly Columbus: Check the size of the seatpost: if 27.2 most likely SL or SLX, if 27 most likely Cromor and if 26.8 most likely Aelle.

Yeah, but I want Parts from the same Year as the Frame is from. Will check the Ultegra, thanks for the advise.
With the rear dropouts you were right. Ther are 126mm.
Seatpost would be 27,2 if I am right.

Were you thinking of these components? They are in good shape and since I wanted to sell the green Diamant I could use them for the built up.

That 600 Ultegra group with STI would look (and work) great on this bike and would be period appropriate as well

You might be right.
But I think campagnolo (victory or chorus) would look good to. It`s more chrome

Does that 8-speed 600 shift well? I had nothing but trouble with the set I had. A royal PITA that required perfect tolerances, and still wouldn't work right. I much prefer 8-speed Campag.

Both of my 600 STI bikes shift fine. Sounds like you need to find a different mechanic.

I vote for Dura Ace or Campy. The grey 600/Ultegra doesnt do it for me.

Either of the top 2 groups. Decide how many speeds you want and if you want a modern group with Ergo levers or an older more vintage group and go from there.

I am my own mechanic, you know that, Jim.

I went from top to bottom of that group looking for the problem. Tried three different RDs. It's all in the archives.

somebody will be very pleased to own this...I don't know what it is, but this frame really hangs together in a most satisfying way. It has the look of one that will become somebody's favorite, if if rides as good as it looks.
