Scored a Marinoni Special tonight.. any idea what this thing was worth new?

It is a large 63 cm frame. Columbus SPX tubing with a mish mash of parts includin 600 tricolour indexed downtube shifters, FD, RD. The rest is mainly Campagnolo including the crank, brake calipers (the aero looking ones, what model are these? Athenas?), aero levers, hubs, aero seat post and binder, and skewers.

It has an ambrosio elite aero hoop up front with a mavic in the rear with a 7 speed freewheel I assume?

There is some slight rust forming underneath some touch up paint on a few spots under the top tube where I assume a frame pump was rubbing, and a little around two of the top tube rear brake line braze ons. Inside the fork looks clean, aswell as everywhere else really.

Would a bath in some oxalic be a good idea to remedy these few spots underneath the touch up paint?

And do any of you guys happen to know what this thing might have been worth new?

I'll save someone from having to say it, even though it will more than likely happen anyway. THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!

Not entirely worthless - it finally prompted me to realize what Shimano 600 "tricolor" is - a term that has been all the rage lately on C&V. I had envisioned some rare variant anodized in the Italian national colors, until it occurred to me that it seems to be all over the place and I had never seen it before. Just now figured out what it is (and that I've seen it all the time).

Yeah, not completely worthless - if it's too big for you and it has internal routing, I will be the first of many to state my interest in making arrangements for your Canadian rust heap!

Painting instead of polishing makes the parts cheaper to produce. Shimano, of course doesn't pass the savings on to the consumer, they pass the additional profit on to Shimano.

I have no idea what your bike would have sold for, initially.

THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!
Then, why submit it knowing that important information is missing?

That said, I picked up a Marinoni "Special" last summer for $200.00 and it was fitted with full Campy C-Record, including the Delta brakes. I sold the frame set (much too big for me) for $400.00 US, plus S/H and kept the C-Record component grouppo for my Gardin "Special".

I included all of the information needed to acquire an answer to the question for anyone knowing the actual value of the bikes back in the day. People like T-Mar generally don't need to see pictures to delve into their memories to reference bicycle cost or worth if known. That said, the other majority of people think these threads are worthless without eye candy, so the question still remains. Thanks for the input though. Pics to follow. Would still love to know what these things might have been worth back in the day.

It may even be a little small, and there is no internal cable routing. Any idea when they began using the internal cable routing?

Some photos of the filthy and neglected piece of machinery. Any thoughts on the rust? And are the brake lever hoods correct pieces?

Because he's fresh, first of all. Secondly, a lack of photos gives him some protection from forum commentators when it ends up on eBay.

Then PM T-Mar. As long as your asking....I cant stand Marinonis. Everyone custom order frameset we ordered was wrong. Wrong fork crown, wrong paint schemes, wrongs color shades.

Easy there you self righteous killers . This one is a keeper. I guess the thread title should not have been specifically about what this thing was worth. I was curious to know what they may have sold for back in their day.
