84 Trek 500

Until recently, I would have priced this 84 Waterloo Trek Model 500 in Reynolds 501 at about $250, but they're not getting any easier to find.

So I was thinking - shall I ask more? - It's in very very nice condition, and totally refurbished.

I would ask for $300. But your market might be lower than mine.

It looks very clean and steel Treks are desirable and easy to sell where I live. In SoCal I would most likely get $275 for it. Or I could sell it in 1 day at $250. If it was a 560 then up to $300. I sold a '84 560 for $300 4 months ago.

Looks like a small frame. I almost always sell small framed Treks and Peugeots to petite college girls. You might market it that way.

I agree with taking a shot at $300. You can always lower the price. It's a clean bike, and that's a factor.

Around here, $250 would be the figure. Last year, it would have been $200.

Interesting to here the comments on the 560, as I picked a 1984 560 project up a few days ago.

wrk101's market bears low selling prices, at least compared with mine.

Thanks all - this puts it in the ballpark I wanted it to be. It is pretty minty. (Your input has made me feel justified instead of just greedy )

I bought that same bike, same color (except 21" frame) in 1984. Is it just an illusion, or is the rear wheel larger than the front? I know that some small framed bikes come that way. In any case, good luck with the sale.

Thanks NY'er. To answer your question, the wheels are both the same size. -Just a trick of the cameras' perspective.
