Peugeot PGN10 not just a price question....
..... but a comparison and value question. I currently have a PRN10 that I like very much but I am 5'11" and the bike is only 54cm. There is a 58cm PGN10 for sale on the local Craigslist. I did a little research and it seems that the pGn is made with 501 tubing as opposed to the 531 of my pRn. The description that I read about the pGn make it sound like it might ride and handle much like my 60cm Raleigh Marathon which is also, I believe, made of 501 tubing, which is to say, more relaxed than the pRn which I find to be quite responsive and maybe even "twitchy". That responsive, "fun" ride is what I am looking for: I want to replace the pRn, not the Marathon.
So, the question is not only what you think the value of this bike might be (in Boston of all places) but also if you think that a pGn is a replacement for a pRn.

The PGN10's were two steps down from the top PX10 in the 84 catalog, just after the PSV10.
- I see PGN10's listed on CL for around $300.
PRN10's don't seem to surface much, but were ranked next after the PX10 in the 77 Catalog.
I favor the appearance of the Stronglight crank on the PRN, but of course you do need to have a special crank puller for them. (Some people would view this as a negative.)
On the other hand, the 531 label always seems to make a bike more valuable, even though I've never been able to discern any great difference vs '501.
These small differences notwithstanding, I would think the PGN10 would be the more enjoyable ride for you, simply because it is closer to your size.

+1 Fit trumps tubing. 531 bikes enjoy a significant premium over 501, but fit rules.
