Hi. I'm looking for a frame like this, but as these older mountain bikes had way different geo than even mountain bikes from the mid-90s, i'm not too clear on the sizing.
The seller is clearly not a bike guy. I just emailed him, to make sure the bike's still available, and to ask him to measure the seat-tube center to top. We'll see.
To my eye, the frame looks HUGE, but i've known the older mountain bikes to have more horizontal top tubes and, often, more headtube. With all the weird components on the bike, it's kind of hard for me to judge; ppl who know mb-series frames really well may be able to guess better.

ps- if anyone knows the vintage, based on paint or decals, that'd be sweet, too. I'm thinking it's an '85, carbon black, straight 4130 tubes...

OH YEAH! that is huge alright. that is atleast a 22" frame. even for onroad use I would say you need to be atleast in a 61+ road frame to ride that.
judging from the geo ad the brakes I agree mid '80s I susectthere may be an issue wih the rear wheel judging from that one pic.

+1, it's huge! Looks like the 23" frame. Assuming it's 23" and the 1985 model with the 72 degree seat tube and 277mm BB height would mean a standover height of about 32.8". Add a couple inches of clearance and you need a 35" inseam, more if you'd be riding off-road. And I'd say there's a problem with just about everything. No front brake, no shifters, no derailleurs and a rear brake cable housing that is too short and strung tightly around the stem. It's a good thing you only want the frame.
