Vitus Carbone / 979 Bikes Campy / Dura Ace
 

Hey I have a line on picking up these two bikes. Just wanted to get a ballpark of what you all think they are worth. Think they are both around 1988.

979 Aluminum. Full dura ace.

nice looking bikes. I am sure you know they are not the stiffest bikes for climbing and sprinting, especially for larger riders. are both bikes equipped with tubular wheels?

what is up with the pics of the extra wheel? neither bike seems to have a radial laced wheel but there are two closeups of one.

how much are they? I really like that Carbon one and if it was near me I might give 300 scheckles for it. I mean afterall you never know with those frame.

I believe both wheelsets are tubular. The radial laced wheel is the front wheel of the 979 and is not a spare wheel.

I am aware that these bikes tend to be slightly softer than vintage steel. I only weigh 165/170 and don't anticipate a problem for the casual riding I would be doing on it.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the super record group complete and in good shape worth $300 alone? I imagined a dura ace group being worth somewhere near that much as well. The brooks saddle is worth a few dollars also... His initial asking price was $500 each, but i'm thinking i can get him down to around 350 - 400. I just need to sell a couple my others to create some space.

if the Carbon bike had a complete SR group yes it might be worth more. the brakes are Modolo, nice stuff but not Campi, and I can't see what the seatpost is but I am not sure it is Campi.

I am not sure I would pay 500. since there is no way this could be a daily rider for me 400 would be tops 350 even better. but starting at three would account for the fact I may have to spend $50+ for new tires before I could ride too
