Schwinn Sprint for $70?

I found this bike on craigslist and was wondering if this was a good deal. I'm looking for a casual commuting bike for college and the occasional weekend ride.

What do you guys think? thanks.

If everything is in good shape it looks like a good price for a bike you intend to ride. Not so much value if the intent is to buy it and resell it to make a profit.

Bottom of the line bike. Myself, if I was looking for something in that price range, I would rather have one of those basic, bike shop branded, mountain bikes. Such a MTB can handle fenders, racks, anything you want, and will have better functioning components. I would rather spend a couple of $$ more, and get something with alloy rims, three piece alloy crank, etc.

For $70, though, it's not a bad deal. Just don't expect too much out of it.

That said, I had one come through my hands and it was a pretty decent, if modest, bike.

I would agree that an inexpensive mtn bike can be had in the same price range, but the Schwinn might be a good buy, It's hard to tell from the pic. The Sprint I have does have 3-piece crank and I'm pretty sure it came with alloy rims, so the only way to be sure is to check it out, ask the seller and/or bring a magnet when you go look at the bike.

Actually... steel rims.

Waiting isn't a bad thing. This would have gotten you in the game but you would have wanted to trade up before long anyway.

Actually... mine had alloy rims, however they may not have been original to the bike. +1 on waiting, if you aren't feeling the "I've got to have this bike" moment, it's good to wait and get something you are truly drawn to.

... I bought my Sprint at Goodwill for aprox $25.00, but it needed some work. Time and patience will get you some pretty good deals, but those deals do not pop up every day, thus time & patience.
