80's Centurion Le Mans RS

Hi, all. I'm a bit new to vintage road bikes. I just picked up this Centurion Le Mans RS, and have decided it might be a tad bit big for me. I would need to sell this bike in order to look at my other options in smaller sizing. I degreased and relubed the entire bike. What would you place it's value at?

I have the serial number, but where do I look it up?

80's Centurion Le Mans RS in original and clean condition.
58cm frame / 33" standover
Tange 2 tubing / Mangaloy fork
Shimano Light Action shifters and derailers
Shimano SLR brakes
Suze hubs
Araya 700c gold wheels
Kusuki handlebars
Shimano BioPace 170mm crankset
NO RUST only minor scratches

Thanks!

Around here, as it sits, I would say $125-150. Cleaned, lubed and tuned I would say $175-250.

When you go to sell this, you need to add more description to your add.:

1. Determine the exact year. We can you via the serial number. It looks circa 1987.
2. Mention the tubeset (Tange #2 main triangle with Mangaloy forks and stays). That gives the buyer a better appreciation of the level of the bicycle. In fact, I'd mention Tange #2 in the title. That will draw potential buyers to look at your ad.
3. Mention the brand and models of the major components (derailleurs, brakest, cranks, hubs, rims). Again, that's a good indicator of the level of bicycle.

It is a 1987 and an offer of $200 was made for an identical one around here.

I used to have one exactly like it, in excellent condition. (Wish I hadn't parted with it, either, because it was a fun ride, but it was - in my case - just the opposite: a little too small for me.) I think it sold for about $200.

I always thought this was one of the nicer Centurion color schemes too, by the way.

Thanks for the replies! I updated the first post with more info.

You may want to look at this sizing chart and include the height of potential riders.

If you're in Denton, check out the CL listings under Denton Bike Sales. His most recent offerings are not up to the quality of your bike. He usually has a pretty decent selection though, and he's local to you.

In this market I would ask $250, maybe $300, and accept a little less. If you get no bites, go down a little.

It's a 58cm frame if measured to the middle of the top tube, and 60cm if measured to the cup of the seat tube.

That's my buddy. In fact, he's trying his hardest to get it from me. Just don't know if I want him to have it. He'll just resell it. Lol.

thats pretty. just what size do you need?

realestvin7 11-24-10 07:28 PM

I feel good on 55-58cm frames. Just kind of considering my options since this one is on the large end of my usable scale.

That's a neat bike. Does it have Tange Infinity tubing? What components?

Bianchigirll 12-02-10 05:11 PM

yes it does have Infinity. shimano light action drive and brakes, Sugino cranks (so no biopace) and Suzie hubs. it is a great looking bike and I love it. I was looking high and low for triple triangle, but this one is just too small to even begin fooling with.

Motoyuki 12-12-10 03:03 AM

Would you be willing to part with the gold 700c araya wheelset? If so pm me :)
