Massi, early 80's, what's it worth?
I just saw an early 80's Massi in a local bike shop. Anybody want to venture a guess what its worth? Sorry no picture.
And yes its Massi with two 's'es. Its red, chromed chain stays and fork (pantographed on the crown), single set of water bottle brazons, and nice lug work. I was told the original owner bought it in Italy. A quick search on the internet suggests that its actually a Spainish brand, but I haven't put in much time at the mouse yet.
Its in very good condition for its apparent age. A few nicks, very light rust in a few spots. Head set and crank feel really smooth and tight if a bit dry.
Other details:
Gipemme crank 52/42
Campy RD, FD, and downtube shifters. Look to be Nouvo Record (sp?, older than Super Record so I'm guessing late 70's or early 80's stuff)
Cinelli bars and stem, look to be mid 90's Giro d'Italia.
Modolo brakes, maybe handles too. Look to be 70's-80's as well.
No wheels, middle of the road quality seat and post.

I have seen a few, those I saw were originally sold in GB for whatever reason.
No special appeal, and perhaps an negative for having a name so close to another brand.
Masi, Maasi, Massi, its enough for one to lay claim to any slight misspelling just to keep the copies away.
