Ross Road Bike

I am buying my first road bike and would like to know if the one I am interested in is reasonably priced and reliable. Here it is:

https://raleigh.craigslist.org/bik/2317370520.html

Can someone give me their two cents?

That's a pretty low-end bike, and not worth the asking price. But it is in beautiful condition, for what it is. It's probably a very solid bicycle.

Thanks for the info Diego. How much should I pay for it?

The seller would be disgusted, given that (s)he at least paid for the bar tape and tires. If I needed it, and I was away from my tools, I'd pay up to about $40-50.

I would keep looking.

A higher level bike (even some Ross models were okay) will be much much nicer to ride. What is your budget?

At $100, you are better off with a rigid frame MTB with slick tires, or even an XMart bike. Or hit the garage sale/thrift store circuit hard, and find a project (note, pretty much all garage sale/thrift store bikes will need work, so if you do not have the time/tools/aptitude/interest in doing the rehab, then a garage sale/thrift store bike is not a good idea).

Ross did make some nicer road bikes, but they’ have 27” alloy wheels .vs. the 26” steel wheels on that cycle.
I agree, hold out for something else.
Look for something with alloy wheels in 27” or 700c, and alloy cranks.
