1989 Pinarello 58cm Amatore

hey guys, new to the forum, well newly registered. anyway, ive been riding roadbikes my entire and have had numerous frames, usually classic ones, i guess im a sucker for looks and just knowing that my frame was built with some love and not overseas somewhere. I currently ride a 62cm de rosa somewhere from the mid-80s and i really like it. i got if for a steal but the frame is a bit big for me, so im thinking about selling it and switching to a track frame... i want to try the whole fixed gear thing. i found this 1989 Pinarello 58cm Amatore on craigslist here in LA but the guy wants 850 for it... seems a bit high, especially when i searched it in google, i found out that that very same bike was for sale in NY for 600 a while back. anyway, here's the link, tell me what you guys think.

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...324620887.html

also ive never riden a track bike before and have been told that if im going to do urban riding that i should consider either converting a road bike or getting a newer track that has more relaxed geometry. im 6'2'' and usually ride a 58/59 road frame, how would i feel on a bike like this? (if thats even answerable...)

The posting has expired. Did you ask over at the Singlespeed & Fixed Gear forum? There are plenty of opinions there mostly from a young crowd. In general you can "try" the whole fixed gear thing for way less than $850.

OK, I'll chime in. I think it is worth $600.00 easily. The condition of the components are very nice, especially the Ofmega cranks and the headset. Nice stuff. Be aware that there may be toe overlap with a track bike. This is generally not a major issue, just be aware of it.
I ended up selling one of my track bikes because it was a pain to deal with, for me, maybe not for you. If you don't know what that is, basically that is where the front wheel brushes against your toes when you are pedaling and turning sharply. Since that doesn't happen all of the time, no big issue. More of an issue is you are riding fixed. Since this one is fixed/free, you can always ride the free side of the hub if it bothers you.

But getting back to the bike in general. Nice ride I'm sure. Worth $600.00 in my book.
