I have a classic Olmo road bike. What is it worth?

My bike has a decal that reads 1978. It has been converted to a fixed gear (wouldn't surprise me if it used to be a messenger bike). It is the popular dark red with gold Olmo decals. The paint is beat up and the shifters have been removed. Otherwise the components are Campagnolo. Rims are in okay shape but do not match. Here is a link to the same bike (though my bike is in no way near this shape):

OH.... I opend the link before I finished reading. so your bike was a 10spd but a single speed now. we really need to see pics of the bike. it could be worht $50 or $150 no way to tell.

now that Olmo you linked to, which is my size, could be a real pricy bike and I am afraid to ask the seller how he wants.

I almost forgot WELCOME to the forums. we will gladly help you in any way we can. take a good pic (outside if possible) of the whole bike, then close ups of the dropouts and forkends, the seatlug and the head tube and luggs.

How can it be the same bike? The linked one was a track bike to begin with.

I meant to say that my bike has the same frame. It looks like both bikes are currently fixed gear, but that is where all similarity ends. Mine is beat up.

so you bike was converted to track style dropouts but the shifter bosses were levft on? or you have an old road frame that someone put track wheels on? this is why pics are important. you came looking for help but we can't help without pics.

B G,
Thanks for all the help. I uploaded my pictures to Photobucket. The setting for my account is "public," so I think anyone can access my pictures. Let me know if that works.

Thanks

Thanks, Brian 3609. I was given this bike and want to get a feel for what it is worth before I try to sell it. The folks at this forum have been really helpful.

nice looking bike. it does however need alot of cleaning and it is missing some expensive parts, if you want to put originals back on it. if it were my size I would try hard and only give about $200 for it. it has a good 3-4 of work to done to overhaul it, then find good replacement parts. with the condition it is I would not be suprised to the bearing in the bottom bracket (where the crank arms mount to the frame) were worn pitted and it need a whole new BB. the wheels too.

Thanks Again

Thanks again to all of you who offered input concerning my Olmo. This forum is an amazing resource, and the participants I've interacted with have been patient and informative. I really appreciate your help.

I think I'll Craigslist my Olmo. I know I won't reach the market that Ebay would offer, but I eliminate the shipping issue and the whole bidding process. If you, the experts, had indicated it was a more valuable bike, I might have gone the Ebay route. I'll use the pictures 3069 posted for me when I post to sell.

You guys are awesome.
