Peugeot Cologne or Raleigh Technium Al
I'm shopping used bikes and have found a Peugeot Cologne and a Raleigh Technium Aluminum available in my price range (~$100). Any thoughts on which is the better bike?
The Technium needs a bit more work, new tubes, probably new tires.
Is $100 about right, or should I ask for a lower price?

The Peugeot looks good, but I've only seen pictures. I haven't even seen pictures on the Technium and the seller has not responded to an email request. So....I'm getting less hopeful on the Technium.
I'd certainly replace the handle bars on the Peugeot and eventually the gear shifts, maybe both at once.
If you have experience with either or both bikes I'd be interested in knowing if bike conditions were comparable, which is the better bike?

I've owned a Technium so I can speak to that one. The Peugeot Cologne, never had head of one until your post, but did a Google search and came up with tons of info. Since you have seen a photo, I suggest you Goodle (Peugeot Cologne) and see if any of the pics that pop up match your bike of interest. One Cologne showed it had Reynolds 531, so that makes it a desireable bike right off the bat.
The Technium would depend upon the model and the year. They changed a little, different graphics and stuff over the years, but the frames were very similar. I had a 460, which for the year was second in line below the 480. There was a 440 and a 400 also, I believe.
Mine had decent components, Shimano Light Action derailers and Shimano sidepulls with decent levers, GT bars, nice GLX cranks, etc. It was a very nice, smooth ride. The aluminum frame was light and the rear stays and the fork were steel, which dampened road noise. Nice choice if the Peugeot doesn't pan out.
