Hi David:

The Trek is a good looking bike, but I've seen vintage carbon go for much less. The price might be fair but I would pass. I bought a Giant Cadex 980c for $150. It was a very nice bike and rode well. If you are patient, you can find one at a better price. I sold mine because the right buyer came along. This was one of my more profitable flips (I still have the carbon seatpost and saddle). This was mine after I rehabbed it:

+1 $450 is dreamland. Lugged carbons have lowish value around here. DT shifter bike, 20 years old, pass, pass, pass.

Original MSRP is a joke too. The 1993 Trek 2300 had an MSRP of $1400, and it had a much more desirable Shimano 600 STI 8 speed drivetrain.

+2 Price is too high. I paid $240 for a Specialized Epic (similar bike) with DT shifters. I'd say $350 max on the Trek, and that's if it's in perfect working order.

THANK YOU all, gentlemen! i'm not in the market for CF just yet, but you have saved me a goodly amount of money anyway. Now I have different expectations from the market. I appreciate the opinions of every one of you.

My son's 2100 (same f/f, w/105 STI) set me back $300. I wouldn't pay that much more for (downtube) 600.
