Hi guys,
So i am pretty interested in this bike and wanted to get an idea on how much would be fair for me to pay for it. Its a mid eighties supercorsa, 64cm, thats all original aside from the fact that its missing its pedals. Its all super record. It has a 27.2 seatpost, which ive read is less desirable. The guy that owns it says it basically hasnt been ridden in over 20 years and was never ridden all that hard, so it is in pretty much mint condition. I figured since it is such a tall bike it isnt worth as much combined with the fact that mid eighties cinellis are less desirable from what ive read. I based my original offer from another guy trying to sell a similar bike for $1100 dollars (see link) but that seemed to be too low for the seller http://cyclingwmd.blogspot.com/2010/...-for-sale.html What do you guys think is a fair price, i would hopefully keep this bike the rest of my life, but it seems to be getting too expensive. Here are a couple pics, the serial number is 83365 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=223898http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=223899 |
Have you ridden it yet? If you love it, the cost won't matter very much.
If I were in the market for another racing bike of the era, I'd pay up to $1800 for a mint post-Cino Cinelli in my size. I'm not, it isn't, so I won't. |

yeah the bummer part is that its 900 miles away :(
Its rare for me to find bikes in my size (im 6'5) that im interested in so i kinda feel like it might be worth it to take a chance, plus im kind of enamored with it, heh, the lugs are so beautiful http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=223912 |
I wonder why a 27.2mm seatpost wouldn't be more desirable; 27.2mm seatposts in the mid-eighties indicated the frame was made with a high end tubeset.

Grab it and enjoy! Contact the seller with the possibility of paying more based on the condition. This way the seller may not sell the Cinelli to someone else with the anticipation of getting more money(don't mention the amount). It is a nice bike( three hole lugs are very desirable and collectable as an investment(pre Columbus ownership)! Mike(gioscinelli)

I wonder why a 27.2mm seatpost wouldn't be more desirable I agree with GiosCinelli: if the bike is your size, grab it. I really doubt you'll be disappointed. |
$1100 is a good price IMO.
If you are looking for tall, this Parmount is pretty sweet. And cheap. http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/bik/2620341052.html |
It's a top of the line bike with top of the line components in a size that is perfect for you and it is in excellent shape----offer $1400 and if he won't sell, move on, he has unrealistic expectations.
You should check the "Facilitators" sticky in the main C&V forum, perhaps someone is local to the bike and can help you in the shipping of it. |
Thanks for the input everyone, i think i have a pretty good idea what im willing to pay for it now, lets hope the guy goes for it
