colnago arabesque in disquise
I stumbled upon this very badly repainted Colnago that appears below the surface to be an Arabesque model:

it is getting a LOT of attention -- and offers -- on my website even though it is not really for sale.
normally I would sell this in a blink.
Problem is, it happens to be my size and so in my dreams I could imagine restoring it.
But, given my lack of time, that route seems very unlikely. So it might have to go.
Can anyone help me set a value? What's it worth?
How rare are Arabesques? (if I sell and then have sellers remorse and want to replace it.)
As shown complete (with mostly complete NR groupset and wheels)?
Or as Frame only (noting that the matching front fork is missing, though I have a suitably sized Colnago fork I can swap in.)

Are you sure it is paint and not a powder coat? It looks really thick around the lugs and, if it is powder coat, could detract a lot from the value since it could be an expensive and arduous task to remove it.
Arabesque lugs are chromed so, another question must be about the manner in which the bike was painted. Is there still chrome underneath that paint/powder or was the frame sandblasted down to the bare metal? Take a bit of paint remover and see what lies underneath.
If you were to sell it as it sits, I guess you might find someone tall on eBay who will give you $500 for it.
Try to lessen the variables so that you can get top dollar, is what I mean to say.
Marinoni could probably make the bike pretty nice again, they do chroming as well as paint. It is a real bummer about the fork, Arabesques had a Prescia fork with a nice rake to it, something like 43, and they are IMPOSSIBLE to find.

what is this setup? if you intend to ride this I strongly suggest getting brakes designed for recessed mounting.

If you can get $500 for it, take it. Its quite a project. +1 Paint looks really thick. Orange peel looks like rattle can to me.

Could those lugs be chrome? If so, I would at least remove the paint and restore them back to shiny. That would increase it's bling factor immensely.

the trees tend to get a bit lost when you are standing back trying to assess the forest.
that looks pretty awful.
this beast is currently in winter storage so I have to drag it out again.
I have only ridden it a few blocks for kicks.

Folk get silly over Colnagos. And this one is probably no exception. $600. would be top dollar, and one might just pay that for a chance to "make it theirs".

Dear lord. How someone could do this to your formerly gorgeous frame is blasphemous at best. As the former owner of several Colnago frames, I advise you get lots of paint stripper and refinish this frame (or pay to have it refinished) in your favorite colors. My experience has been that the factory paint will hang on if you do the strip job yourself with over-the-counter products. Make this your dream bike - don't sell it, you will end up a remorseful old fart like me.
