1987 Gazelle Champion Frame and Fork 531C
OK, I picked up this Gazelle last year. It was built up with a mix of Shimano components. I had it rebuilt with 105 for a while, but have since moved those parts to another build I sold. So I still have this Gazelle frameset. Based on what the former owner told me, he bought it new in Germany, hence it does not have the "Mondial" logo, but it is just like the Champion Mondial. Its an AB frame. Campagnolo drop outs.
Thinking of putting it up on fleecebay this Spring, along with a few other frames that have stayed too long. Its my size unfortunately (either a 56 or a 57), but I have way too many keepers already, and another keeper build in the queue.
My thinking right now is that if I build it back up, the local market for this bike built will be about what the frameset will bring, so I would be wasting a lot of parts. And I would need to put better stuff than the Shimano that was on there.
Please ignore the 105 bits in the pics, they were moved to a Falcon I sold.
A few chips here and there, nothing serious, and no rust. Decals are in great condition, paint is in VG condition.

Of all the people to start a thread here I wouldn't expect to see you. Who else knows more about this stuff??
This makes sense to me. Since it doesn't have components now, I'd expect selling the frame on ebay to be more worthwhile. If you're willing to deal with the hassles of ebay. Sure is a nice frame, someone here might bite if you put it in the for sale section. If I had the money I'd be after it...

Yeah, kind of surprising being on the other side of this request. But almost everything I deal with is either Japanese or US built, very little European stuff.

My size...I don't need another project right now but in the spring...who knows. Keep me in the loop, it might look good sitting next to my Batavus.

Right now, I plan to put a fair number of frames on ebay in March. That's when I hopefully get my top rated seller status back = 20% off fees, 30% off shipping. Don't get me started on ebays detailed seller rating system (DSR).

My best estimate is 2-300 for the frame and fork. Maybe a bit less or more. Its 531, a nice plus, and paint looks good. Not Italian, that would add some premium, nor is it a manufacturer particularly well known in the States, which would help more. The Dutch guys like lotek probably have the best handle on these. Ebay will of course be a crapshoot. I'd research 531 frame sales for a bit, but that's in line with what I would ask for this frame at a swap.
