Hello...need help on Diamond Back Ridge runner age...

I've had this older DB Ridge runner mountain bike for a few years and was wondering if anyone here can identify its age and if I should still allow my 11Y/O son to continue riding it or give him my DB which is newer?

Unfortunately the front rim was damaged beyond repair by a minivan....I cut the spokes away and saved the generous looking sealed hub. The bull nose handle bars are awkward and unfortunately been brazed at one time or another but otherwise the bike is original with exception to the front rim and saddle/post.

Its grey and from what little research I've done I come up with 1982-83ish? Is there any other ways to tell? It has lugged frame with Sugino AT crank and Suntour XC three pulley rear derailer..quite odd actually.

I'll try to provide some pictures but when I went out to shoot my rechargeable battery was very low so I'm waiting for it to charge but in the meantime I'll throw this post out there for some exposure...

Thank You and nice to have found such an active forum!

Neal

Welcome to the Bike Forums.

It is easy to figure out how old your bicycle is. Have a look through How Old Is My Bike?, paying close attention to Component Numbers. Doing so should make it easy to figure out how old your bike is and the process is actually fun to follow.

Hope that is a help.
