Trek 1200 deal or no deal

Looking at a early 90,s trek 1200 200 dollars bike looks in good shape, has Rsx components, 21 speed, shifters are integrated in the brakes which I assume is an upgrade, first roadbike for son, appears to be the right size, find out in the morning when we go see it, assuming it fits and all is in good order is this a fair price, seller is firm on it, thanks for any help

$200 is a good price. Check the frame joints carefully for cracks, as it is aluminum. Check the brifters carefully too, the left ones tend to not work after a while and they are not easily repairable. That is a small frame, looks like 48cm, only good for someone up to about 5'5".

Assuming the shifters work, thats a very good deal, way below market. Go now.

Had him measure it he told me 49.5 so I assumed it a fifty, my son is 5.6 or 7, I see you saw the add, does it look good to you, at the risk of sounding stupid what's a brifter? And are the shifters an upgrade or is that original thanks ( okay googled brifters)

He's probably only going to use that bike for a year or less, if he's still growing taller, but at that price, you can make a profit if he doesn't beat up on it.

Yeah that's why I'm going older dont wanna drop a wad on a newer bike that wont hold value, plus he's a twin which means I have to find another lol. Love it tho, they started 3 months ago and fell in love with cycling, always ready to ride!

That's a really good deal. If it fits, go now. Otherwise it'll be gone if it's not gone already.

Your first job if you get that bike is to move those shifters up to where they belong on the bars
