Basso - WIW?

I saw this Basso in a local shop. 19.5 inch frame, which caught my interest. Campagnolo derailleurs, levers. Shimano 600 crank, shifters, brakes. Mavic Open Pro rims on newer hubs. Frame paint and decals in pretty okay condition, for a "rider". What year and model do you think it is, and what's it worth? (I know zippo about Bassos). Everything will be in good working order.

I'm thinking about my short female friend who has been looking for a road bike. She fits my son's 19 inch junior road bike, so this bike could work for her. Probably more than she wants to spend though.

Look's like a Basso Gap model, likely mid-eighties.

Look's to be in nice shape, with nice decals, good rubber and bar tape, so I have to believe she was well cared for. It should be Columbus SL steel, which is very nice. The mixed gruppo bits will hold it's value down some, although the Campy and Shimano bit's will give you dependable performance. So I would have to say this bike is in the $400-$600 range, maybe abit higher.

I ride one and I really like it. Very nice handler and quick to...

Ah, so, the bike shop's $750 price might be a tad high. Oh well, keep looking.

Yeah, $750 is too high. More of a $300 to $400 bike. Is this at the place on Alberta? For $750 you could get something a lot nicer.

CityBikes. They tend to price on the higher side, but then again you're not chasing down Craigslist flakes and their used bikes have all been gone through by the mechanics. The size of this one probably adds a bit of value.

A tad high only because of the mixed groupset, but really not to far off. That could be your bargaining point, if you feel like haggling. I have seen Basso Gaps go for quite abit higher than that when Campy equipped. They are great bikes with a good reputation.

Probably a GAP. I own one from the same era, rides super nice. If you're curious look at the BB and the serial number, first digit is the build year.
