Super Course...

I read a lot about these, but don't see them very often.
I'm guessing this one won't last long, it looks to be in very nice shape.
So...what's it worth?

Thanks!

If that's a Brooks Saddle on it, the saddle alone is $100. I don't know if brown is the same value as green, but $225-$300 is what a clean one will fetch.

Hi Tony, I've been watching that one for the past month. He's dropped the price from 350.00 down to the current 295.00. And yes, that Brooks is like icing on the cake. Looks to be a nice bike and if it's in the condition it appears to be, it's a good deal especially if you get it down in the 225.00 range.

You did notice the tubular/sew up tires, right? Just checking.

Clean, very early 1970s sample, though I don't know the Michigan markets well enough to comment on the price, so I'll defer to others. The seller has obviously done some work, as the tape and cables are new, though the cable housng entry angle to the rear derailleur looks very strange, like it's been severely kinked.

Although they are nice riding bikes, I think you can do better for $300. Components on the Super Course are lower end if I remember correctly. I think Sheldon drove up the price on these.

Thanks a ton...those are really great replies.
Yes, I see the sew-up tires, but know virtually nothing about them!

I'd love to get into a Brooks saddle, but would a used one break into my arse soon enough -if it's already formed to someone else's arse?

I doubt he'd go down as far as $225, but I may stop tomorrow just to ride it out of curiosity and meet the seller. That is, if it's not raining like it's supposed to.

Changed every year, some years are better than others. I have a 1981 and it has pretty good components, 531 butted tubing frame, etc.

This one is an earlier model, with claw rear derailleur hanger, cottered crank, crappy Simplex derailleurs and shifters, etc., so not nearly as good. Still a very nice looking bike.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.
