A new job and schedule has kept me busy for the last couple of months but just picked up this Fuji Tiara that I believe is an '88. Has 700 wheels and shimano indexed drivetrain and brakes, Ishiwata triple butted cromo frame. Any info and an appraisal of value after service, tires, tape etc. OOOO my 100th post too

October '87 serial number would indicate a 1988 model and this is corroborated by the color.

Are you sure it's too small for her? The reason I'm asking is because it doesn't even look like the saddle has been budged between the before and after pictures. It's still quite low, placed awkwardly to the rear of it's adjustment range and nosed slightly down. That saddle easily has 2-3" of additional height adjustment and probably a bit more handlebar height adjustment too.

Yes I'm sure, she dances on tiptoe for standover, something she is not comfortable with. I bought it without her there to try it figuring I could just sell it if it didn't fit. Thank you for saying what was making the seat look odd, that will be adjusted for better pics.

So it's not "too small" as you originally stated, but too big. That makes more sense, given the set-up.

Oddjob, I think you're right, I have my eye on a couple of Raleigh Sports for her, the added bonus of a Super Course in my size I can bundle

Anyway as a follow up to the original value question, the bike sold yesterday to the first guy that saw it with several lined up to see it if he didn't buy it after a day on CL advertised at $250, I took $220.

Or possibly one of the various proportional models (a.k.a Terry bicycles) with a smaller front wheel that allow a shorter standover height. These are bit easier to find on mid-range models. Mixtes and step though frames were typically used on entry level bicycles, though there are some exceptions.

While I'm not the data guru that T-Mar brings to the C&V forum, I'm glad to see my pricing valuations hold up. Since BikeMig calls me the Oracle, I have a reputation to maintain!
