vintage peugeot road bike--feedback on price and condition?

Hi there, thanks in advance for your help. I'm considering purchasing the bike at the link below, described as a vintage Peugeot ride bike--I'm wondering if anyone might be willing to weigh in on how appropriate the price is, and comment on its condition (based on what you can tell from the images provided)?

Many thanks!

Keep looking. That bike is at least 2x overpriced. Nutted rear wheel, chrome wheels, dirty bar tape, likely needing a full overhaul of all bearings, a $60-$80 job. It looks like an 1988 Monaco, which shows alloy wheels. Also, that frame is too small if you're over 5'6".

Based on condition I would agree the bike is overpriced. Fairly low end 80's model with HLE luggless frame, low end crank and parts, missing front derailleur and cable cheap replacement RD, rough looking wheelset with bad tires. Basically this is a $150 bike needing $75 or so in basic stuff. So Oddjobs price assesment seems about right.

Just a couple of quick questions ideas to help you out. What size bike are you looking 50-52cm like the Pug or something bigger? If so this one doesn't bad 3x+ the bike for less money about the same size. https://gainesville.craigslist.org/bik/3986316269.html

Also since selection in your area seem kind off limited I would suggest that you expand your surch some and look at adds in close by cities.

Thanks so much for this--I've been scouring Craigslist, not sure how I missed it. Yep, the 50-52 cm is a good fit for me, but I could go a bit bigger. I will follow up on this--again, thanks for sending. And yes, the pickings are slim in Gainesville, though I've heard we have two or three good local bike shops (I'm new to town), which I'll try to check out as well.

Make sure whatever you get fits you. That's the first rule when buying used. Whats your inseam measurement?

52 sounds good. Are your legs and torso proportioned? Once you get a good frame size you can adjust/change the stem length to accommodate your upper body.

I wouldn't immediately discount 54's if I were you but I would discount 50's
