Looks like I finally have a legit "what's it worth" bike. Saw this Centurion Pro Tour listed for $200. Got in the car, kept the questions to a minimum and paid his asking price. It's definitely been ridden and has been maintained in a "just keep it on the road" style, as evidenced by the zip-ties holding the cables in place on the frame, but the only thing that's an obvious shouldn't-be-there (for me, anyway) are the Specialized hubs. Anyway, here are some photos, straight from the purchase. There's a nice ding in the top tube, but I think that'd be just cosmetic, yes? Everything looks good and straight.

So I think I got my first "lifer." And I'm gonna go a bit picture-heavy now, because I'm reeeeeeally interested in your opinions and recommendations here. Current value, potential value, things that may not be right or original, etc. Many thanks!

Without racks as it sits I think maybe $300ish in my market, but a lot of bike for the money. I had one of these for a bt - GORGEOUS bike.

Very square deal for $200. Used quality touring bikes are hard to find and this one is in fine looking shape. I'd lose the saddle and the zip clips; get some clamp on cable stops, the saddle is really your choice but the one on the bike doesn't look right. Other than that, I'd replace the chain and the brake and derailleur cables as well as the housing. Also I'd overhaul the bike and tune it up mechanically. Other than that, the bike looks ready to ride. Enjoy it and let me know if you want to sell it, .

Nice! Amazed that the Super Lemans I bought has similar paint detailing. Anyway, with the top tube dent, low $200's appears about FMV to me.

Whoopsie. Never said thanks for your input and wisdom. I appreciate it, and will make sure to throw some "after" pics up here when they're appropriate.

While I haven't done any real work yet, I did take it down to the LBS and have them give it an eyeball just to make sure everything is as I hoped. Sure enough, nothing sneakily trashed and needing replaced. Just the overhaul/tune routine and it should be rockin'.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but it's relevant. I've been living in denial because I love this bike, but the fact is it's too big for me. I haven't done much of anything to it yet (was gonna spend the winter refurbishing); so far I've just cleaned it up and replaced the bar tape. If you were going to post this guy on the Portland-area CL, what would be your asking price? Remember the ding in the top tube...

I'd keep an eye out for what people are asking in your area and watch if the ads disappear. A lot don't and that's because the bike is priced too crazy high. I think north of $300, maybe $350 or so, is a reasonable price for that bike given the ding. It can be hard to move bikes on CL too far north of $300 but that may not be true in Portland.

Listed at $300, out the door two days later for $260. As a small bonus, the buyer will be returning the flared randonneur bars and saddle to me once he gets his stuff put on there. I love those bars.
