1973 Schwinn Paramount P15 Men's Road Racer
Can anyone help me with what the value of this bike could be? I would appreciate any feedback.
Jason
A beautiful vintage 1973 SCHWINN PARAMOUNT P15 Men's Road Racing Bicycle
This P15 model rides like a dream and weighs only 23 lbs with a frame size of 23" (58cm). This size frame is rare making it highly desirable by bike collectors.
Close to 100% of the bike's components are ORIGINAL ITALIAN MADE CAMPAGNOLO COMPONENTS (seat post, wheels, crank set, foot pedals and showcasing a Rally1st type rear derailleur.)
This bike features Weinmann 27" rims, Dia Compe front/rear brakes with Madison pads, a Brooke's vintage B17 black leather seat and Shimano 600 brake levers.
This bike has extremely low miles. The paint color is Sierra Brown and is chipped/flawed in some areas but barely noticeable. Contains all original decals.

This vintage of Paramounts can be quite valuable but detailed photos are a must to determine originality, condition, etc. in order to give a good idea of approximate value.

I think we'll find out how much it is worth in about 2 days: Vintage 1973 Schwinn Paramount Men's Road Racing Bicycle | eBay
There are other pics of that bike here: 1973 Vintage SCHWINN Paramount Men's Road Racing Bike

It's a shame the OP didn't do a better job with the photos. There's no driveside picture and the focus is terrible on most of them.

Up to $700 for a zero feedback seller for a bike, not bad.

Weird. In the OP, the frame size is listed as 23" (58cm) which looks about right from the one non-drive side photo, but the ebay listing clearly says 52cm.

Based on the fact that the seller knows how to spell "rare."

Up to $1,005. The one bidder with 11 transactions has had 5 bid retractions in the last month. I have never retracted a bid in 15 years.
Any chance the OP will be back?

It's quite possible that the seller would have loved the opportunity to make changes to that ad including some embarrassing mistakes. Like the size (23"), they used inches back in the 70's and the color, which is Sierra Brown, both of these items would have been changed.
The rear derailleur is a 1st type Rally and the seat is a B17 Brooks leather seat. I have seen the Rally 1st type derailleur on ebay for $400, and the Brooks B17 would go for $200, so that's $600 just on two parts sold separately so the price this bike is generating seems in line with the value associated to a mint condition vintage Schwinn Paramount.
New photos are being posted on Ebay today if anyone is interested on seeing them. Thanks for all the oh so helpful comments.

$200 for a B17, huh? And $400 for a derailleur?
I need to change my investment strategy.

Better photos are always a big plus but biggest issue on ebay is non payment by buyers and/or buyer making false claims post ship. For whatever reason it seems to happen with bicycles esp w/ buyers or sellers with zero transactions or multiple retractions. But that is all for future speculation, for now definitely update the pictures with clear, drive side shots, pictures of lugwork, any damage, etc. you have it at the right place for best dollar, although free ship (esp to east coast) plus ebay/paypal 13% cut will take some of that gross. Also for sure require signed signature and get insurance on shipping.

Be careful in your ad about stating it is "ALL ORIGINAL" unless you are positive it is. We had a thread a few weeks ago about a member that sold a bike and claimed it was all original but the spoke had been changed. He had to reimburse the buyer for the cost of replacement spokes.
You definitely need better pictures of the $200 saddle and at least a picture of the $400 derailleur if you want to get top dollar. I figured it at $800-$900 because of the way it is currently listed, so you are already doing better than I expected.

The 1973 P15-9 had the "Schwinn Approved" GT-300 LeTour rear derailleur (rebadged long cage Shimano Crane), not the Campy Rally as original equipment.

There are a lot of non-original parts on that bike, including at a minimum the saddle, handlebars, brake levers, brake calipers and rear derailleur.

I really find this thread to be suspect also. Why ask for a value on a bike that is currently listed for sale in an auction and CL? If you weren't up to something, why would you care? The bike will get what the bidders will pay. The only reason I can see to get a value after listing would be to end the auction if it wasn't getting high bids. Also, the fact that the CL listing is consistent about the size shows they know how to state it in inches and cm. The mistake in the EBay ad could be used to end the auction if they wanted. This is all speculation on my part, but this whole thing just seems fishy to me.

Now I'm going back to sorting my thousands of dollars worth of derailleurs. Got a retirement to plan.
[[EDIT]] On a side note, any thread that has Scooper dishing out the Schwinn knowledge is a win.

Seller was hoping to get the 900 bin, then "cancel" the other one within the 24 hour window but somebody has shut down the BIN auction. Meanwhile the auction still up is bidding up fast, perhaps this time somebody went with pro shills vs the poor sap with zero sales and multiple retractions.

Whatever happened and is happening, it's pretty clear the seller is clueless not only about the bike but also about ebay's rules and policies. He didn't seem interested in advice offered here.

Well after revising the ad with better photos and copy (the final ad shows that whomever wrote it is educated on Schwinn Paramounts. Well at least enough to sell it for $900, after acquiring the bike for $75 at an estate sale. Good job seller!
