80's Miyata 310 road bike value?

Hey guys,

I'm new to bikes and I wanted to get your opinion on a bike I'm thinking of buying.

The owner thinks it's a later model ('85- '86) but i'm not sure. It looks to be in good shape with alloy wheels and frame. Just generally trying to get an idea of the quality of this bike.

Early 80's semi pro Miyata three ten - 60cm - 21 speed bicycle

Thanks for helping!

Do you think it will fit you? From the size of the head tube it looks bigger than a 60cm, probably the next size up- 62/63cm. The seller says he is above 6 feet and it's a bit big for him. If it's not your size then keep looking. if you don't know your size find out, then shop.

I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam so i think the size would be okay, guess i wont know till i ride it. Anything in particular i can keep in mind for fit?

It sounds like it may be a fit for you. There are a gajillion websites on bike fit, google and read. I would ask some questions about the bike. Paint looks like 1985> Miyata Bicycle Catalogs: Miyata Catalog 1985 It came with 27" wheels. Did the seller put some 700c's on there? That would be a good thing but ask why. Did the original wheels get folded in a crash? If these are 700c do the brake calipers reach properly? It also came with non-aero brake levers. This one has been changed to aero levers which are white and match the crank color. It has a white headset also. Perhaps someone did upgrades?

I hear you are in a hot market. The 310 is a decent rider. Triple butted main tubes. I like Miyatas. Go try it. If it all works and it fits make an offer. I could not sell a 25" 310 where I live for $275. Maybe that is fair market value where you live.

And the ad says 21 speed bicycle. Hard to tell but the crank does not look like a triple which it would be if it's 3x7. Ask about that. Sellers often get that math wrong.

There can't be many buyers in Vancouver seeking a 62cm frame, with it's large Chinese population. The shifter cables look rusty in the photo, but they were replaced?

The crank looks white, but could be a reflection, but it looks like what may be Shimano 600 pedals.

i'd aim for $225.

I would aim lower at $175 or so while a nice bike it has issues as is. Yet I doubt the serious right size buyer legit 6'2 will care.

Thanks for all the help guys,

unfortunately this bike sold right away (i replied 20 mins after the post went up), vancouver is proving to be a hard place to find a large frame road bike!

Keep looking, wheels don't match, low grade components, overpriced department store bike.
